Established in 1852 by Switzerland native Louis Fauchere, this landmark Italiante hotel began as a summer escape for city dwellers. Famous guests include Andrew Carnegie, Robert Frost, Mae West, Stephen Crane, Babe Ruth, Franz Liszt and Sarah Bernhardt.
